Privacy policy
Effective October 4, 2026
The short version
- Your photos and videos never leave your device. FrameHush looks at them, groups them and deletes them on the device itself.
- There is no account. We never ask for your name, email or anything else about you.
- The app sends anonymous usage data and crash reports, so we can see which parts work and fix what breaks. They never contain a photo, a video or anything in them.
- Purchases go through Apple or Google. We never see your payment details.
Your photos and videos
FrameHush asks for access to your photo library so it can show your photos and videos month by month, find similar shots and screenshots, and delete the ones you mark. You choose how much access to give, and you can change it at any time in your device's settings.
All of this happens on your device. Your photos, your videos, their thumbnails, file names, dates, locations and any other details stored with them are never uploaded, sent to us or shared with anyone.
Nothing is deleted until you confirm it, and your device asks you once more before it deletes anything. On iPhone, deleted items stay in Recently Deleted for 30 days.
What the app sends
Release versions of FrameHush send two kinds of data to our analytics provider:
Usage data
Which screens you open and what you do there, described by counts and categories only. For example: that a month was opened, how many photos were kept or cleared in a session, how much space a deletion freed, whether you finished onboarding, whether the paywall was shown and a purchase was started, completed or cancelled, and your choices in Settings, such as the theme.
Crash reports
When the app crashes or hits an error, a report of the technical error and where in the app's code it happened.
Sent along with both
- A random identifier created when the app is first opened. It is not tied to your name, your Apple or Google account or your device's advertising ID, and a new one is created if you reinstall the app.
- Basic details about your device and the app: device model, operating system and version, app version, language, time zone and screen size.
- Your IP address, which reaches the provider as part of any internet connection. It is used to estimate an approximate location, such as country and city.
What is never sent
Photos, videos, thumbnails, file names, album or month names, the dates or places a photo was taken, or anything else from your library. The app does not record your screen, does not use advertising IDs, does not show ads, and does not sell or share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
Who processes it
Usage data and crash reports are processed by PostHog on our behalf, on its EU Cloud, hosted in Frankfurt, Germany. PostHog may only use the data to provide its service to us, under a data processing agreement. We use the data only to understand how the app is used and to fix problems, never to identify you.
Purchases
Unlocking deletion is a one-time purchase made through the App Store or Google Play. Apple or Google handle the payment under their own privacy policies. The app only asks the store whether the unlock has been bought, so that it can open up deletion, and it never receives your payment details or your account details.
What stays on your device
To remember where you left off, FrameHush keeps a few things in its own storage on your device: your settings, your progress through each month, which months you have finished, small preview images and the fingerprints it uses to spot similar photos. None of it is sent anywhere. It is removed when you delete the app.
If you back up your device with iCloud or Google, this storage can be included in that backup under Apple's or Google's terms, like any other app's.
Permissions
- Photos and videos, to review and delete them, as described above.
- Vibration (Android), for the haptic feedback you can turn off in Settings.
- Internet, to send usage data and crash reports and to check your purchase with the store.
FrameHush does not ask for your location, camera, microphone, contacts or anything else.
Legal basis
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we process usage data and crash reports on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping the app working and improving it (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). We chose data that tells us how the app is used without telling us who uses it.
How long it is kept
Usage data and crash reports are kept for up to 12 months and then deleted.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask to access, correct or delete data about you, to restrict or object to its processing, or to receive a copy of it. To do so, write to the address under Contact. Because the data is not linked to your name or account, we may need the random identifier from your device to find it, and in some cases we will not be able to tell which data is yours.
You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority, for example the one where you live.
Children
FrameHush is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them. The data it sends is the same for every user and never includes anything that identifies a person.
Changes to this policy
If what the app collects changes, we will update this page and the date at the top before the new version of the app is released.
Contact
FrameHush is made by Mootaz Ltaief, who is responsible for the data described here. For any question about privacy, write to framehush.support@mootazltaief.com.
